Carnival Dream Resumes Sailing After Generator Repairs
Carnival Cruise Lines’ 130,000-ton Carnival Dream, which ended a cruise early and cancelled the March 16 departure after a back-up generator malfunctioned in St. Maarten, has resumed cruising. Carnival said the emergency diesel generator has been repaired. The ship departed on a seven-day Caribbean cruise from Port Canaveral on March 23 with more than 4,500 guests on board.
Certification and clearance for the Carnival Dream to resume service was received from all necessary regulatory organizations, including the U.S. Coast Guard.
Carnival discovered the generator malfunction March 13 and remained docked in St. Maarten for several days, arranging sightseeing for passengers as well as a concert by Jon Secada.
