The Carnival Pride will operate eight-day cruises from San Diego to the Mexican Riviera beginning in March 2009, Carnival Cruise Lines said.

The 2,124-passenger, 88,500-ton Carnival Pride will operate the schedule from March 22 to April 30, 2009. Carnival said it has not finalized where the ship will go after this program is completed.

Prior to operating the cruises from San Diego, the Pride will continue its current schedule of seven-day Mexican Riviera cruises from Long Beach, Calif., through March 15, 2009. The 3,006-passenger Carnival Splendor will then assume the Pride’s year-round, seven-day Mexican Riviera itinerary beginning March 29, 2009.

Ports on the Pride’s itinerary from San Diego include Acapulco, Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa, and Manzanillo, Mexico.
