Several cruise lines have altered itineraries for ships sailing in the Caribbean near the path of Hurricane Gustav or Tropical Storm Hanna. Carnival Cruise Lines said the Carnival Ecstasy, which departed Galveston on Aug. 28, will spend an extra two days at sea because the port is closed.

It will return to Galveston on Sept. 3. Carnival Fantasy, which departed Mobile on Aug. 28, is also being extended due to port closure and is expected to return to Mobile on Sept. 3.

The Sept. 1 five-day Ecstasy cruise has been changed to a three-day cruise-to-nowhere departing at 4 p.m. Sept. 3, returning on Sept. 6. Guests who sail on the three-day cruise will receive a 50 percent refund of the cruise fare paid.

In addition, guests will receive a 50 percent discount on a future three- to five-day cruise departing before Dec. 15, 2009. The discount applies to the cruise fare only and is non-transferable.

The Carnival Fantasy’s five-day Sept. 1 cruise from Mobile has been changed to a four-day cruise departing 4 p.m. Sept. 3 and returning on Sept. 7 after visiting Cozumel on Sept. 5. Guests that sail on the new four-day cruise will receive a 25 percent refund of the cruise fare paid.

In addition, guests will receive a 25 percent discount on a future three- to five-day Carnival cruise departing prior to Dec. 15, 2009. The discount applies to the cruise fare only and is non-transferable. For guests who want to cancel the cruise, Carnival asks that they be contacted right away. Guests will receive a full refund processed in less than two weeks.

Majesty of the Seas, which departed Miami on Sept. 1, will sail a revised itinerary to call at Nassau on Tuesday and Key West on Thursday and remain at sea on Wednesday.

Mariner of the Seas, which sailed off from Port Canaveral on Aug. 31, did not visit Coco Cay Monday but will make its scheduled port calls in St. Thomas on Wednesday and St. Maarten on Thursday. Liberty of the Seas, which departed Miami on Aug. 30, reordered its ports of call. The ship will visit San Juan on Tuesday and St. Maarten on Wednesday.
