Cruise Ships Make Itinerary Changes to Avoid Hurricane Joaquin

Two Carnival ships have shifted Caribbean itineraries due to Hurricane Joaquin.

The Carnival Conquest, on an eight-day cruise from Fort Lauderdale, is at sea today instead of calling in Grand Turk. It plans to return on schedule to Fort Lauderdale on Oct. 4.

The Carnival Sensation calls in Freeport, Bahamas, today instead of Nassau and returns to Port Canaveral on Oct. 4.

American canceled two midday flights Friday from Miami to Providenciales in Turks and Caicos, although evening flights are still scheduled. Delta’s midday flight from Atlanta also was canceled.

Hurricane Joaquin continued to pound the central and eastern Bahamas with torrential rains on Friday. The storm is expected to move off the Bahamas late Friday.
