The Havana International Fair (FIHAV) is getting stronger as one of the main grounds for trade exchange between Cuba and the world. A token that proves this point is the increasing confidence of foreign companies on the island, mostly in such strategic areas as services, food and agriculture, construction, biotechnologies, communications and culture.
Abraham Maciques, president of the FIHAV Organizing Committee, said this year is by far the best of the past decade as the fair has reeled in as many as 1,500 companies and 3,000 exhibitors from some 60 countries.
Mr. Maciques also underscored the Spanish turnout –twice as much as last year’s edition- that for the first time ever attends this event with an official pavilion organized by its Foreign Trade Institute.
Healthcare –one of Cuba’s leading service exports- will have a special representation within the domestic pavilion during the 29th edition of FIHAV.
Estrella Madrigal, chairwoman of Cuba’s Chamber of Commerce, explained this space will boast an outstanding swatch of the island nation’s technologies and biotechnologies, the construction industry, food and agriculture, pharmaceuticals, communications and culture, let alone other major items.
In the course of FIHAV 2011, Cuba will be showcasing its efforts in the diversification of its exportable offers, a niche in which human resources plays a major role.
One of the most anticipated moments will take place during the Cuban Night –Nov. 1- that will be featuring a dinner and a show especially designed for those who like music, traditions and the tastes that single out this Caribbean island.
The 25 pavilions of the Expocuba Fairgrounds will be used this time around, including the Agriculture & Stockbreeding hall that underwent all-out refurbishment as part of the works aimed at giving this facility a new lease on life.
