Dr. Maria Barbara Couzo, president of the Cathedra of Canadian Studies, attached to that institution, told Latin Press that the meet is going to be attended by the First Secretary of Canada’s embassy in, Guylene Le Clair, as well as other figures.

She also mentioned the participation of professor Hal Klepak, a historian and honorary member of Cuba’s Academy of Historians, who will be given a master lecture with an audiovisual material in which the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, refers to the relation between both countries.

Couzo explained that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the bilateral relations and as part of this approach a group of Canadian students from Augustana, headed by the coordinator of this project, Dr. Sandra Rein, are going to participate in the seminar at the Eastern University.

Having Spanish, English and French as official languages, the event will gather scholars that master topics on Canada and work at teaching, tourism and productive institutions.

The Cathedra was created in 2003 at the Foreign Languages faculty and includes sociologists, historians, psychologists, philosophers, lawyers, economists and other specialists interested in the English-speaking world.

In previous editions of the event, the attendees have debated topics related to multiculturalism and religion, non-verbal communication, tourism, immigration and native settlements, as well as scientific works with different approaches to Canada.
