Dominica Gets Set for Upcoming Cruise Season

Dominica's Tourism Minister, Ian Douglas, urged today to prepare and ensure security to address the 2013-2014 cruise season which begins in October.
Dominica expects the number of visitors increase by 89,000 compared to the same period last year, said Douglas who was quoted by dominicanewsonline.com.
Speaking at the opening of a training course for security staff in the tourism sector, Douglas emphasized the need to prepare properly, as they expect more visitors in the cruise ports and on the streets of the island.
In that context, he said, we have to provide a high level of service to ensure complete satisfaction and safety of tourists.
He recalled that last week the Caribbean Tourism Organization projected a growth of three percent for the Caribbean Tourism in 2013, which means injecting more resources and efforts to boost the sector towards greater profitability and competitiveness, he said.
Staff training will be provided by the Tourism Office of the Department of Commerce for Economic Development and Tourism, and the Organization of American States, in coordination with the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism.
