Hurricane Bud Heads for Mexico’s Los Cabos Region

Hurricane Bud continued to build strength Sunday west of Mexico in the Pacific Ocean as it threatened to potentially make landfall near the Los Cabos resort region by late week.

According to The Associated Press, Hurricane Bud is expected to create high surf along the Western coast of Mexico, but the path of the storm remains unclear. There is a chance the hurricane could impact Los Cabos by Thursday or Friday.

The United States National Hurricane Center revealed that Hurricane Bud had maximum sustained winds of 80 miles per hour and would strengthen for the next day or so before starting to lose power late Tuesday or early Wednesday.

Hurricane experts are warning travelers and local residents to exercise caution as Bud is expected to create life-threatening surf and rip currents along Mexico's southwestern coast over the next several days. As a result, a tropical storm watch has been issued for the southwestern coast of Mexico.

On the other hand, Tropical Storm Aletta continues to weaken, with maximum sustained winds of only 45 miles per hour. The storm was still in the Pacific Ocean, traveling about 575 miles southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula.
