Iberia to Have Five Weekly Flights to Uruguay’s Montevideo

Iberia is strengthening its commitment to Uruguay by increasing the frequency of its nonstop Madrid-Montevideo flights to five a week. Iberia’s new Airbus A330/200 MTOW 242t will be used for Montevideo flights starting in March.

Iberia is the first airline to fly the new generation Airbus model, with a maximum capacity on take-off of 242 tons and a range of 11,500 kilometres.

The Airbus A330-200s can carry up to 288 passengers in the maximum comfort provided by newly designed seats in both Business and Economy.
Business class seats, all with direct access to the aisle, unfold into two-metre-long flat beds.

Large individual touch screens offer a huge range of entertainment options, and gourmet meals are accompanied by a selection of Spain’s most exquisite regional wines.

Economy passengers will notice the comfort of larger and more ergonomic seats, with individual seat-back touch screens for the lavish entertainment offer, along with power supplies and connecting ports for personal electronic devices.

In 1946, Iberia became the first airline with regular flights between Europe and Latin America when it launched its Madrid-Buenos Aires route, with a stop in Montevideo.

Iberia is the leading airline on routes between Europe and Latin America, with 256 flights per week to 20 Latin American destinations, including five that were launched or resumed in the past two years: Montevideo, Santo Domingo, Havana, Cali and Medellin.

The airline will resume services to San Juan, Puerto Rico in May.
