ITB MICE Day Draws Attention to Event Industry Rules

On 6 March 2013 at the ITB MICE Day, participants can take a look behind the scenes of organizing events and gain an overview of the event industry’s many different rules, as well as their finer points. Increasingly, the principle underlying events and incentives is “law and order“.

However, calls for compliance, event security and data protection are creating uncertainty among event organizers. For some, it is hard to know what content and formats will be allowed in the future.

Compliance guidelines define where customer relations end and where corruption begins. The Regulations on Places of Assembly ensure that visitors and employees can safely take part in events.

Event organizers are also responsible for ensuring that personal data is handled in the correct way. Any lack of knowledge of important rules can lead to far-reaching consequences. Failure to take GEMA registration seriously is a point in case. As well as the dangers associated with contracts it is the overall legal framework that presents pitfalls for organizers in their day-to-day work.

At ITB Berlin 2013 leading experts will show how, despite the many rules, it is possible to hold successful events. In mid-December details of the ITB MICE Day program will be available at www.itb-kongress.de/businesstravel.

Holders of a trade visitor pass for ITB Berlin can attend the MICE Day lectures at no extra cost. Once again, Vereinigung Deutscher Veranstaltungsorganisatoren, the partners of the event, will be guaranteeing the highest standards.

Anyone looking to meet the industry’s opinion-formers, leading event planners and service providers and intent on cultivating relations with colleagues will find no other meeting offering more under one roof.

ITB Berlin 2013 will be taking place from Wednesday, 6 to Sunday, 10 March, and from Wednesday to Friday will be open to trade visitors only. Parallel with the trade show, the ITB Berlin Convention, the largest travel industry event of its kind in the world, will be held from Wednesday, 6 to Friday, 8 March 2013.

ITB Berlin is the world’s leading travel trade show. In 2012 a total of 10,644 exhibitors from 187 countries displayed their products and services to 172,000 visitors, who included 113,006 trade visitors.
