Jamaica Commissions Study of Tourism’s Economic Impact
Jamaica commissioned a U.K.-based firm to undertake an economic impact study of the island’s tourism industry.
Edmund Bartlett, tourism minister, recently signed a $222,000 agreement with Nathan EME Limited for the study, which will provide information for strategic planning and policy development that will place tourism “on a platform where it can be recognized for its value and contribution and it can be factored in the national planning as well as the distribution of national resources,” said Bartlett. The study is expected to be completed within seven months
