Jamaica, Cuba Ready to Roll at WTM 2018

The Tourism ministers of Jamaica and Cuba, Edmund Bartlett and Manuel Marrero Cruz, respectively, are both in London at the helm of the delegations from the two countries that are attending the 2018 edition of the World Travel Market in London.
The WTM is a major promotional platform for the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB). It will also feature other Jamaican companies, creating the ideal opportunity to meet industry professionals and conduct business deals.
Through its industry networks, the WTM also creates personal and business opportunities while also providing customers with quality contacts, content and communities.
The United Nations World Tourism Organization is also listed as a major player at the WTM. This year UNWTO and WTM will feature a Ministers’ Summit on November 6, based on the theme “Investment in Tourism Technology”. Mr. Bartlett and Mr. Marrero are expected to attend this summit.
There will also be a Ministerial discussion on “Investing in the Future of Tourism” where Ministers and other public-sector stakeholders will join the private sector panelists to engage in a discussion on the way forward for tourism.
The Cuban delegation, for its part, is in London with an entourage of top execs from major hotel companies with operations on the island nation, such as Gran Caribe, Islazul, Cubanacan, Iberostar, Melia Hotels International, Blue Diamond, Valentin, NH Hoteles, Muthus Hotels, Accor, Roc Hotels, Viajes Cuba, Cubatur, Viajes Cubanacan, Havanatur, Ecotur and Caracol.
According to a press release issued by Cuba’s Ministry of Tourism, the Cuban delegation will home in on the potentials of Havana, a city that will be celebrating its 500th anniversary on November 2019, coupled with Matanzas, Holguin, Santiago de Cuba and the keys off the north shore.
Mr. Marrero will personally launch the official call and invitation to FITCUBA 2019, the island nation’s number-one travel and tourism show, which will unfold in May in the city of Havana, with Spain featured as the guest country of honor and MICE as the target travel market.
