Luxury Abu Dhabi Desert Retreat Makes International Debut at ITB Berlin
Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC), a master developer of major tourism destinations in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, has unveiled its stunning Qasr Al Sarab Arabian desert retreat at ITB Berlin as it readies to open the ultra-luxurious destination towards the third quarter of this year.
Managed by award-winning Thai hospitality operator Anantara Resorts & Spas, Qasr Al Sarab is set amidst the towering and awe-inspiring dunes of the Rub Al Khali (Empty Quarter) –the world’s largest uninterrupted desert. This is the area made internationally famous by British explorer Wilfred Thesiger who crossed it in the 1940s recording his experiences among the Bedouin camps.
This ultimate, multi-experiential getaway will feature a five-star hotel with 140 guestrooms, 10 Royal Pavilion villas and 42 additional villas, traditional hammam spa, a conference center and a children’s playground as well as lush landscaping complete with a water hollow where roaming Arabian oryx (gazelles) will stop to quench their thirst.
Guests also will be able to visit a desert excursion centre, sample traditional pursuits including falconry, camel riding and excursions into the spectacular Empty Quarter desert –or taken in the breathtaking sight of some of the highest sand dunes on earth.
Qasr Al Sarab will be accessible by road and air. A private 1,000-meter air strip and runway is being developed to fly visitors to this secreted destination, which lies just 90 minutes drive from Abu Dhabi International Airport and is seven kilometers from the main Hamim Highway crossing the Rub Al-Khali.
