Royal Caribbean International´s Majesty of the Seas will get what cruise line president Adam Goldstein called an “extreme makeover” in January 2007.

Upgrades will extend from changing the carpeting, window coverings and decor in the Schooner Bar to relocating a larger, “more contemporary” ShipShape Fitness Center to Deck 9, the line said. A Johnny Rockets and Sorrento´s pizzeria also will be added to the Majesty. Cabins, meanwhile, will get new beds.

The Majesty will be out of service between January 12 and February 9 next year.

Royal Caribbean also revealed a new itinerary for the Legend of the Seas. Beginning on May 6, 2007, the ship will alternate a 12-day cruise to Italy and Croatia, with new calls in Portofino, Italy, and Split, Croatia, with a 12-day eastern Mediterranean cruise, which will add calls in Limassol, Cyprus, and Egypt´s Alexandria.
