Norwegian Modifies Two Cruise Itineraries to Avoid Hurricane Irene
By Theresa Norton Masek
Norwegian Cruise Line has modified itineraries for the Norwegian Jewel and Norwegian Sky to avoid Hurricane Irene. Norwegian Jewel arrived in Great Stirrup Cay the morning of Aug. 23 as originally scheduled. The ship will not call on Nassau Aug. 24 and instead will spend the day at sea, heading north to return to New York on Aug. 27 as scheduled.
Norwegian Sky is in Nassau Aug. 23 as scheduled. The ship will cancel its Aug. 24 call to Great Stirrup Cay and spend the day at sea. Depending on the path of the storm, the ship may also have to cancel its call to Freeport on Aug. 25.
Norwegian has not made any changes to itineraries for cruises departing Aug. 26-28 but continues to monitor the storm’s progress.
