Orizonia Corporation is negotiating the acquisition of the Transhotel Group, a global hotel and tourist service provider, sources close to the bargaining said this week.

When Orizonia laid out its new expansion strategy back in 2007, it revealed clear-cut intentions to bank that strategy on new acquisitions in an effort to beef up its stance as one of Spain’s major travel and tourism companies.

The purchase of Viajar.com and Condor Vacatuions were only the first steps on the long expansion process that underscored the company’s strategy. Quite recently, Orizonia’s front office came up with a proposal for the acquisition of Globalia that was eventually turned down. Now they’re gunning for Transhotel.

The Transhotel Group is made up of half a dozen enterprises –the Hotelplus wholesaler, the Kris hotel chain, the Transvacaciones tour operator, the Guiacom hotewl booking central, and DTS, a technological solutions division.

Transhotel has a payroll of 1,100 employees and counts on over 45,000 hotels all around the globe, let alone 75,000 travel agencies, 10,000 booking and reservation outlets, and receives more than half a million booking calls everyday.

Orizonia’s acquisition offer will eventually turn the company into a giant tour operator that will cover a considerable chunk of the local travel and tourist spectrum, includingwholesalers, retailers, airlines and incoming agencies, with one of the world’s most powerful booking and reservation portals on the Internet.
