Port Canaveral Attracts New Cruise Line
The new 116,000-ton Crown Princess will call at Port Canaveral next summer when Princess Cruises begins new service from New York to the Caribbean.
It will be the first time the cruise line has called at Port Canaveral. Passengers who embark in New York for the round-trip Caribbean voyages will be able to spend a day in Brevard County and Central Florida.
Raymond Sharkey, chairman of the Canaveral Port Authority Commission, says the economic boost from passenger and crew spending "will have a ripple effect throughout our region with each port of call visit."
Port Canaveral will receive five calls from the Crown Princess, which features 900 staterooms and nine-day itineraries to the Eastern and Western Caribbean, including Bermuda, Ocho Rios, and the Turks and Caicos islands.
