Q & A with Herman Fourie, Managing Director of Zinplex

Within the framework of the Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2014), Caribbean News Digital sat down with Herman Fourie, managing director of Zinplex, a company based in Pretoria, South Africa, that hopes to pry into the Caribbean market with top-quality products and services.

Where is your company based?

-We are in Pretoria, South Africa.

Do you have a representation office in Cuba?

-We do not have an office in Cuba at the moment. We’ve got a lady that is representing us here and we’ll try to establish an office here as soon as possible.

Are your products registered in Cuba?

-Most of our products are registered in Cuba. We’re talking to companies within Cuba’s importation field to purchase and use these products in the Cuban society.

Our company is growing and we are looking forward to expanding our products because we believe in them. We feel that we can put our products all over the world and look forward to having Cuba as one of our major foreign destinations.

What does your company produce?

-We do mineral supplements, a whole range of products. We started up with products concerning acne. We fight it from the inside by boosting the immune system of the body and then we work on cleaning the skin, so we brought a face wash. It’s very good because it reduces the production of sebum on the skin, which is oiliness. People with dry skin do not have acne, people with oily skin have acne. One of the causes of acne is stress: when your stress levels are high, you get acne even if you’re an adult.

With that as well there is a moisturizer that you can use every day, you can put it on your hands like a hand cream or face cream. 

All our products have got zinc and selenium in. We started with a new product for babies from the age of 2 months to 6 years. We boost the immune system of babies through the use of zinc and selenium and Vitamin C. It keeps them healthy during periods when they interact with other children, touch each other, having running noses and other upper respiratory illnesses.

On the other hand, we brought our Baby Bump Cream that helps with your nappy rash and our Baby Bump Spray, which is an active wound spray for nappy rash. When you clean the baby’s bum and the nappy rash is there you don’t have to touch it again with your fingers: you just spray on the area, it makes the baby feel good and you put the nappy on without having to put any other cream.

This is also proven because it was originally a wound spray. It is now applied on babies, but it does not mean that you cannot use for any wound on any adult or elderly people. You can spray it on open wounds and they will be healed.

We also have a product for sports women and men, ZinMag Sport, which helps with the testosterone levels in the body of athletes, repairs muscles by taking away lactic acid and reducing muscle cramps. This product is being tested in London, and has been certified drug-free. The product is clean and can be used by any sportsman in the world. It could not produce any side effect or stimulation concerning to the World Sports Organization or World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)

We developed a new cough syrup for children from one year onwards. It’s known as Cough Bee Calm and is based on the immune boosting system syrup for children, but we added honey and another ingredient.
