Restoration Works Show Interesting Findings in Fraternity Ranch

Surrounded by gorgeous landscape and cozy environment, the members of the team that is carrying out archaeological research in Fraternity Ranch are making progress. Thanks to their effort, we can now see the remains of the ranch’s industrial aqueduct, bunkhouse area, coffee drying areas and fermentation tanks.

As part of this important element of “Coffee Trails” Project, the workers are also focused on the areas around the main house, with woodwork and brickwork.

Yaumara Lopez, Head of the Architecture Section with the City Curator’s Office, commented on the works: “Right now, the communities feel like they are part of the project, they have established a relation nor only as observers and participants in the activities, but even as direct workers in the restoration process.”

“We recently visited the area and saw a big poster placed by the neighbors. It reads “Ramon de la Yaguas, World Heritage” and that meant a lot to us because we realized that the project has made these people feel how valuable this area is, so they act as guardians of such important cultural token in Santiago”, Ms. Lopez explained.

Fraternity ranch is not only been visited by the national public, but there are foreign visitors coming to this amazing site.

Olivier Perpoint, Coordinator on the French side and representative of Malongo Foundation, told TV Santiago that “some foreign artists are coming to carry out specific works, by taking original elements of this reality and creating works of art, writings, pictures or any other artistic expression."

It’s an interesting experience that will be joined by Cuban artists and members of the community.
