Spanish Group en Route to Build Development Project in Havana’s Marina Hemingway

A Spanish group made up of such heavyweights as Meliá Hotels, Pisan Náutica, Insotel Marine, C4T and Estudio 7, has been handpicked by Cuban authorities to enter the homestretch of an international tender project to build a travel compound in Havana worth some 400 million euros.
It’s all about a comprehensive development project at the Marina Hemingway in Havana that includes the construction of up to 500 guestrooms in a couple of five-star hotels, as well as the operation of some 850 slips for both small and large yachts, according to a news report released by Europa Press.
Among the tender requirements for this project, the construction of an international scuba diving center and the development of a marina up to par with the highest international standards –meant to target mostly European and American tourists- were high on the list of top priorities.
The development will be conducted by means of a joint venture, made up of the tender winner and a Cuban company- with the former running the lodging newbuilds in the compound.
The investment will be bankrolled through a loan granted by the international partner and allotted to the joint venture to be founded once the tender process is done. The finalist companies can come up with a proposal and an investment estimate tacked on it in the course of this week.
