Tourism Struggling to Keep Up in New York this Winter

New York is all set to welcome its share of winter tourism. The biggest city of America says that it is a safe destination for tourism and is ready to welcome five million visitors this year. It feels that it will be a busy tourist destination this year after the Paris attack.

There was a huge upturn this thanksgiving where thousands paraded in a three hour event. The security has however been tightened through New York.

Despite threats from the ISIS in its propaganda video the US authorities hit back saying that there is no credible threat against the United States.

There have been a few hotel cancellations said Chris Heywood, senior vice president of global communications at NYC and Company, but the numbers will increase through December.

But the sights around New York can be intimidating for tourists with police patrolling around the Times Square. People are taking picture amid thick police patrolling and friends back home are cancelling their trips in fear.

Business is not the same for cosplayers who pose as Buzz Lightyear and Statues of Liberty Mickey Mouse. They are no longer allowed to pose with tourists, business is tough due to security concerns.

New York is ready to welcome 5.3 million people for the holiday season. The huge tourism rush is expected to bring $3.7 billion for the local economy.

Regardless of all that is not happening as it should be in New York, the famous Centre Christmas tree will be lit and the open air skating rinks will be open along with all the famous department stores, brimming with Christmas delights and decorated windows.
