Vueling Carried 2.9 Million Passengers in First Half of 2008
Vueling, the new-generation airline, carried a total of 2,896,005 passengers during the first half of 2008, a 15.8 percent increase in relation to the same period of 2007. The airline also increased the number of passengers carried during the second quarter in the year, to 1,480,109, a 3.7 percent increase with regards to last year.
Furthermore, Vueling increased the passengers carried during June too, to 537,301, 1.4 percent more than the same month last year.
Average seat load factor reached 70.1 percent during the month of June, 0.7 points more than in 2007. Load factor for Q2 was 69.4 percent, a 2.4-point decrease in relation to the same period the year before. Lastly, load factor for the six months to June was 67.3 percent, a 2.2-point reduction in relation to 2007.
During the first semester of 2008, Vueling compensated the small load-factor decrease with better income per passenger levels, which has translated in increased levels of income per flight, in keeping with the company’s strategy since the start of the year.
