The 35-seater Silver Airways Saab 340B Plus turbo-prop aircraft received the traditional water cannon salute to mark the special occasion, and the excited passengers were greeted by Bahamas ministry of tourism and Abaco officials.

Seaborne Airlines is pleased to announce the addition of non-stop service between San Juan Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) to Clayton J. Lloyd International airport on the island of Anguilla (AXA), with service starting on April 30, 2015. Seaborne will now serve 16 destinations throughout the Caribbean.

Canada’s Air Transat is expanding its service to Haiti. The carrier announced this week that it would be commercializing “regular aviation activities” to the country. That means the flights from Montreal will now be “commercialized” on the global distribution system available to travel agents.

Brazil’s Ministry of Tourism is preparing for the upcoming Lenten Carnival celebration with a series of events ranging from massive block parties (“blocos”) to Carnival balls, all highlighted by the main parades to the Sambodromo on Feb. 14 and 15.

The announcement is of a single charter flight added to JetBlue’s established service but it signals the airlines intent to capitalize on opportunities in the Caribbean market, including the recent warming of tie between Cuba and the US.

A little more than a year after launching its first-ever flight to Haiti, JetBlue is adding another. The New York City-based carrier announced Wednesday that it would be operating a new seasonal flight to Haiti out of Boston’s Logan Airport.
