Cruise West’s 120-passenger Spirit of Oceanus was sold to a Danish company, which renamed it the Sea Spirit and is making the ship available for a long-term charter.
Air France is reporting that some French air traffic controllers' trade unions will take part in the general strike set to begin in France on Thursday, Sept. 23. As a result, French Civil Aviation Authorities have limited the number of flights of all airlines.

Mexicana said it reached agreements to satisfy the concerns of all major creditors who have sought extra protection in U.S. Bankruptcy Court except those of its chief creditor, Banco Mercantil del Norte (Banorte). Banorte provided the airline a $123.6 million loan as collateral to help secure U.S. accounts for processing credit card ticket purchases.
Air Canada reported a system load factor of 86.8 percent on a consolidated basis with Jazz (from which Air Canada purchases regional capacity), matching last year’s record for the same month. System traffic increased 7.1 percent on a system wide capacity increase of 7 percent.
Air France-KLM is considering starting a low-cost domestic carrier in order to compete with low-cost rivals, according to press reports. The company would not comment, but the French news agency AF reported that the airline is considering setting up a new entity within the airline that could compete with low-cost carriers that are eating into the airline’s market share.
