The Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA) and American Express invite editors, producers, writers, and all other journalists to submit their work for the third annual Caribbean Tourism Media Awards program, with the aim of raising regional awareness about the impact of tourism, by fostering excellence in tourism reporting in the Caribbean.
The Tara Beach Suites Compound –hubbed in the Bucuti Beach Resort- has just opened with customized service in its 37 oceanfront rooms, including four penthouse suites. All accommodations are outfitted with king-size beds, while suites are equipped with minibars, Internet hookup, pay-TV, fridge, safety box, air-conditioning and ceiling fan.
Facilities at the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino tourist compound have just undergone a $13 million all-out refurbishment that kicked off in June of 2003. The all-embracing process included the restoration of all rooms, lobbies, restaurants, halls, the swimming pool and poolside areas.
The Caribbean Regional Human Resource Development Program for Economic competitiveness (CPEC), a project funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), has teamed up with the Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA) and its subsidiary, the Caribbean Culinary Federation (CCF), to offer professional development training for Caribbean cooks across the region who may not have had the benefit of formal instruction.
The St. Croix and St. Thomas Hotel Associations agreed to merge into only one management body, even though each of them both keeps its own board of directors and officials. The fusion between these two private entities seeks bigger cooperation for the sake of the U.S. Virgin Islands as one solid travel destination.
Caribbean and international journalists have until March 15 to qualify for fellowships to attend the sixth Caribbean Media Exchange on Sustainable Tourism (CMEx VI) slated for Rodney Bay, St. Lucia, June 24-28, 2004.
