Emil Lee reported progress during his first year in office as CHTA continues its evolution into a Hub and Spoke organization.

The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association has tapped leading tourism industry professionals to engage members during the general sessions of the association’s Caribbean Hospitality Industry Exchange Forum.

CHTA is working with its 32 members to provide hotels, government officials and stakeholders with best practice information aimed at mitigating the negative effects of high levels of seaweed.

Cuba could draw visitors from elsewhere in the Caribbean, the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association has warned.

CHTA, representing the private sector tourism interests of the region, is calling for the establishment of a Caribbean Basin Tourism Initiative (CBTI) to address the region's socio-economic challenges and create new opportunities for stimulating trade, travel and investment throughout the region.

The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA), at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), has elected Karolin Troubetzkoy president-elect for the 2016-18 biennium. She will spend the next year working closely with current CHTA President Emil Lee before taking office in June 2016.
