The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Cable & Wireless Communications, a full-service communications provider operating in 16 countries throughout the Caribbean and Latin America.

"Commitment and collaboration between the public and private sectors at an unprecedented level is essential if the Caribbean is to realize the potential which tourism presents in elevating and transforming the economies of the region and generating employment at all levels," stated Emil Lee, president of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA).

Caribbean students and industry professionals are encouraged to apply for a scholarship from the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association Education Foundation (CHTAEF) so they can pursue higher education or professional development in the tourism and hospitality field.

The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) recognizing FEE's Green Key and Blue Flag programs.

The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA), in a move to strengthen its management team, has created a new post and named marketing and media executive Matt Cooper as the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for the association and, at the same time, promoted long-time Director of Operations and Events Vanessa Ledesma to Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Caribbean hotel occupancy increased 1.5 percent to 68 percent; ADR climbed 6.4 percent to $194.66 and RevPAR rose eight percent to $132.28 in 2014. Caribbean hotels also generated RevPAR increases of more than 10 percent in January, April and May.
