A floating pier developed for the fjords of Norway has started to catch on elsewhere, potentially creating new cruise ports worldwide, especially in small or cash-strapped destinations.

Carnival Cruise Line announced Friday it will add 20 cruises from Tampa to Havana next year, bringing its total number of sailings to Cuba to 31.

Carnival Cruise Line took delivery of the new 133,500-ton Carnival Horizon, the 26th ship in its fleet, at a traditional maritime handover ceremony at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy yesterday.

The terminal at PortMiami represents the continued relationship and strong ties between Norwegian and Miami, which has been the company’s home since its launch in 1966.

SkySea Cruises, a joint venture between powerhouses Royal Caribbean Cruises and Ctrip, will stop sailing by the end of the year.

Joining the fleet in 2019, Marella Explorer 2 will be the first ship in the Marella Cruises fleet to be exclusively for adults, offering customers more choice and flexibility.
