
The Bahamas could be feeling Disney’s magic as tourism officials are projecting millions in profits now that the company has officially added another ship to its Nassau itinerary. Disney Magic will commence three-to-four day Caribbean cruises in April.

Costa Crociere released a compensation proposal for passengers who survived the Jan. 13 Costa Concordia accident. The company said the proposal comes after talks between Costa and consumer associations protecting guests’ interests, with the support of multiple tourism and travel industry associations.

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), in response to the Costa Concordia incident and as part of the industry’s continuous efforts to review and improve safety measures.

American Cruise Lines' Queen of the Mississippi received an updated amenities list that includes the installation of more sliding-glass doors. Eighty-five percent of Queen of the Mississippi’s staterooms feature private balconies, and 71 percent now have sliding glass doors to those balconies.

Another major cruise line is headed for Port Miami (www.miamidade.gov/portofmiami). MSC Cruises (www.msccruisesusa.com) announced that Port Miami will be its exclusive homeport for Caribbean sailings, starting in fall 2013.

Legislators of Antigua & Barbuda could soon be looking at corrective measures to address berthing concerns at harbors in St John’s. President of Antigua & Barbuda Cruise Tourism Association Nathan Dundas said cruise liners have complained about the depth of the water in certain areas.
