
Royal Caribbean International’s Grandeur of the Seas called at Cartagena, Colombia, for the first time on Nov. 22 with nearly 2,000 passengers. The ship’s new itinerary now includes Colombia’s Cartagena and Santa Marta for the 2010-11 season.
Cruiseport Boston again set a passenger record for a fourth straight year. The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) announced the 2010 cruise season finished with 322,161 passengers, a 7 percent increase over 2009. In October, officials unveiled the $11 million makeover of the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal, which modernized it from a vintage World War I military warehouse into a hip new point of departure for ocean-going vacationers. Massport said the renovations were needed to keep pace with Boston’s growing cruise industry and to ensure the continued economic benefits that cruising brings to the region.

Crystal Cruises’ Crystal Symphony will feature South American flavors on its Feb. 7 cruise, both on and off the ship. Sailing from Buenos Aires to Miami, Brazilian and Argentinean culinary and wine experts will spice up the Wine & Food Experiences of Discovery itinerary with tastings, demos, and specially crafted menus.
Celebrity Cruises announced plans to add new Solstice-class features to the Celebrity Infinity during a scheduled dry-dock in early December 2011.

SeaDream Yacht Club’s SeaDream I and II has introduced its 2012 winter and spring itineraries. The two mega-yachts will spend the late fall 2011 and early 2012 sailing the Caribbean. In addition, SeaDream II will add two 20-day voyages to the Amazon in February 2012.

Less than one week after a tour bus robbery prompted Carnival Cruise Lines and Princess Cruises to bypass two mid-week scheduled port calls in St. Kitts, executives from both lines have announced the reinstatement of their original schedules.
