Carnival Corp. will transfer a ship from one of its 10 cruise brands to launch the new cruise line being formed by Carnival and German tour operator TUI, Carnival said today.

Citing consumer demand, Princess Cruises is doubling its world cruise offerings in 2009. The 670-passenger Tahitian Princess, along with the 710-passenger Royal Princess, will offer similar 107-day itineraries embarking at Fort Lauderdale in January.

Carnival Cruise Lines’ 3,006-passenger Carnival Splendor -the largest “Fun Ship” ever constructed- will launch year-round seven-day Mexican Riviera cruises from Long Beach, Calif., beginning in March 2009, following its inaugural schedule of European and Caribbean voyages.
