The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) announced that Washington DC, USA, would be the venue of the Sixth Global Travel & Tourism Summit, taking place from April 10 to 12, 2006. The Summit is the highest profile event for one of the largest industries in the world –Travel & Tourism, accounting for 10.6 percent of GDP and 221 million jobs worldwide.
Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic´s capital, will be home of the Sixth International Latin Music Festival from October 14 thru 16, sponsored by Presidente, one of the Caribbean nation´s top beer brands. From six o´clock each evening, the Felix Sanchez Olympic Stadium at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center in Santo Domingo will be coming apart at the seams with rhythm and energy.
With a turnout of some 40 nations from around the world, Venezuela will throw its gates wide open to attendants to the International Tourism Fair, scheduled to take place between October 5 and 8 in Caracas. The tradeshow will be mounted in the facilities of the La Carlota Airport. Venezuela´s major travel event will be officially opened by President Hugo Chavez, who will be accompanied by Francesco Frangialli, secretary-general of the World Tourism Organization (WTO).
The Atrapa Conference Center in Panama will be home of the Central America Travel Market from October 9 through 11, an event sponsored by a number of local private companies and the state-run Panama Tourism Institute. The event piles up the travel offers, products and services of a region whose nations have agreed to market the entire area under just one solid trademark in the Latin American, European and Asian markets.
Bernd Rohde, general manager of Messe Frankfurt Mexico, announced this week that the 2005 World Tourism Exposition (WTE) will take place from October 5 to 7 at the Banamex Center in Mexico City, in just another bid to bring together top products and services from the local and international tourist sector. This time around, over 400 exhibitors from the Aztec nation and overseas have signed up for an event that promises to lure some 3,000 buyers from the turf and a little more than 500 foreign purchasers.
The Regional Conference on Tourism Communications for the Middle East and North Africa (TOURCOM), which finished on Wednesday in the Jordanian capital, called on international media to communicate the region´s rich culture and help improve its image to increase tolerance in an increasingly polarized world. Participants from more than 20 countries in the Arab world and beyond also urged National Tourism Administrations and the private sector to enhance their knowledge and increase cooperation with the media, especially in the framework of crisis communications, image building and cross-cultural communications.
