Mexican suppliers, and U.S. agents and operators, are gearing up for the Mexico Tourism Tianguis 2005 tourism trade fair, to be held in Acapulco April 10 to 13.
According to Mexico´s tourism board, a study of last year´s Tianguis found that 45% of international buyers´ annual sales, along with and 32% of Mexican supplier sales, were a product of negotiations at the annual trade fair, which attracted 1,500 Mexican suppliers and 994 international buyers in 2004.
Colombian authorities expressed to World Tourism Organization’s Secretary-General Francesco Frangialli, during his recent visit to Bogota, the South American country’s intention to organize the next General Assembly of the WTO, scheduled for 2007.
Colombia’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism, Jorge Humberto Botero, voiced that view at the end of a meeting between Mr. Frangialli and Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, in which the two parts inked an agreement aimed at strengthening the promotion and advance of Colombia’s travel industry.
A group of experts from Latin America will huddle within the framework of the upcoming International Travel Fair in Berlin to hold a forum on the actions that must be implemented to beef up tourist security in that region.
The forum entitled Healthy Growth For Latin America: Peoples, Cultures and Nature Adventure (Ambition, Reality and Future), will unfold during the Market, Trend and Innovation Congress that will take place during the Berlin event from March 11 to 15.
