The concept and planning of the seminar was in the able hands of Carlos Telot, the circuit’s art director, who teamed up with the talents of Juan Manuel Perez, the destination’s fun & entertainment director, and the Sol Meliá Recreation Division in Jardines del Rey.

The First Central American Congress of Protected Areas had its opening session Monday in Managua keen to discussing rational exploitation of those zones that take up 18 percent of Nicaragua’s total surface. Despite the spooky shroud cast over the city by criminal violence, Rio de Janeiro Carnivals brought some 380,000 local and foreign visitors to the city, said Ruben Medina, secretary of tourism at the Mayor’s Office.

The official cited some stats provided by the Brazilian Travel Agency Association as he pointed out that right now hotels are proudly boasting a hundred-percent occupancy rate.

Mr. Medina underlined that such a volume of visitors could bring in a ballpark figure of $116 million worth of revenues for the city.
