A special issue thoroughly illustrated and documented of the Excelencias magazine highlights the 500th anniversary of Camaguey, the former village of Santa Maria del Puerto del Principe, as named by founding Spanish conquistador Don Diego Velazquez. The Excelencias Group’s flagship publication, specialized in covering, spreading, promoting and publicizing Caribbean and Iberian-American countries, is following up on the celebration for the five centuries of the island nation’s heritage cities, an observance that teed off in 2011 in Baracoa.

The "Ramon Alvarez in Memoriam" Award is from this year on, part of the already known awards of Grupo Excelencias. This prize is delivered to an institution or personality for the achievements and inputs in MICE tourism. The event took place this Wednesday at FITUR and the winner was Lic. Luis Felipe Nuño, Promotion Director of Guadalajara's CVB and President of The Latin American Association of Convention Bureaus.

The International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association received a 2103 Excelencias Award today during FITUR, the international tourism trade fair held annually in Madrid. IGLTA was honored for “its tireless work to normalize LGBT tourism in the world.”

The 2013 EXCELENCIAS AWARDS were delivered within the framework of 2014 FITUR International Tourism Show, which was attended by ministers, governors, secretaries, authorities, boldface names from the travel sector and the gastronomy world, as well as national and international mass media.

The Excelencias Group doled out the 2013 Excelencias Awards in Havana to a dozen Cuban boldface names and institutions for their outstanding contributions to the island nation’s sociocultural, economic and tourism fields.
