Cuba has become the first choice for operation in Latin America of the Spanish hotel group Iberostar, the chain's representative on island, Mateo Cardentei, said during the opening of a new property in the western resort of Varadero.

St Giles Hotels is on course to become the UK’s first hotel brand to open in Cuba after its bid to take over the management of Hotel Deauville in the heart of Havana was accepted.

Apple Leisure Group subsidiary AMResorts has announced plans to open 10 resorts in Mexico by 2020. AMResorts already has more than 50 properties across its six brands, including 28 in Mexico.
