Luis Simó, Dominican Tourism Undersecretary, on the outcomes of his meeting with the CTOBy Jose Carlos de Santiago (ITB 03/14/05)
In the face of growing dissatisfaction generated by the CTO´s poor support to the Dominican Republic in the past, the country´s former government decided to leave the organization. The coming to power of President Leonel Fernandez´s administration in 2004, featuring Felix Jimenez at the helm of the Tourism Department and helped by Tourism Undersecretary Luis Simó, a man who´s been dealing with the CTO for several years, prompted the new government to rejoin the CTO, but taking all necessary actions to make sure the Dominican Republic won´t once again be discriminated against, nor the funds this country contributes to this organization´s coffers every year be misplaced. To present this new stance, Tourism Undersecretary Luis Simó sat down with the CTO´s top brass at the ITB 2005 Fair in Berlin.
Mr. Simó agreed to give CND this exclusive interview to voice the achievements of his powwow with the CTO.
