The Expedia Affiliate Network has launched EAN Smart Cross Sell, which lets airlines sell hotels to their online customers. With Smart Cross Sell, airlines can display dynamic, tailored hotel offers to their customers during the online booking process, letting travelers add a hotel to their airfare purchase. Smart Cross Sell also minimizes checkout disruption, resulting in less shopping cart abandonment and higher conversion.

The ministry of tourism has officially launched its ‘rediscover home’ package for Guyanese wishing to return home for Phagwah. Minister responsible for tourism, Irfaan Ali noted that this is part of the ministry’s effort to advance the tourism sector.

Online travel company Expedia revealed that it has achieved significant growth for the Caribbean region in 2011, with notable room night growth to Curacao, Turks and Caicos, Barbados, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. In the first three quarters of last year, revenue generated through Expedia by hotel partners in the Caribbean grew 8 percent in comparison with 2010.

The social travel site Gogobot has launched a travel app for Facebook, allowing friends to get travel advice from one another as well as share trip plans, photos, recommendations and personal travel guides other Facebook Timeline.

Amadeus has announced a partnership with HRS, a global hotel portal with 250,000 hotels, to distribute those hotels to agents. This is the first time that HRS has distributed its hotels through a GDS. Amadeus will integrate HRS hotels, which include 50,000 independent hotels distributed only through HRS.
