Online travel company Expedia revealed that it has achieved significant growth for the Caribbean region in 2011, with notable room night growth to Curacao, Turks and Caicos, Barbados, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. In the first three quarters of last year, revenue generated through Expedia by hotel partners in the Caribbean grew 8 percent in comparison with 2010.

The social travel site Gogobot has launched a travel app for Facebook, allowing friends to get travel advice from one another as well as share trip plans, photos, recommendations and personal travel guides other Facebook Timeline.

Amadeus has announced a partnership with HRS, a global hotel portal with 250,000 hotels, to distribute those hotels to agents. This is the first time that HRS has distributed its hotels through a GDS. Amadeus will integrate HRS hotels, which include 50,000 independent hotels distributed only through HRS.
 

Pegasus Solutions and the Vacation Rental Managers Association (VRMA) have partnered to launch a groundbreaking Vacation Rental Switch (VRS) in the next 150 days. The new interface will improve online vacation rental shopping, while also enabling vacation rental managers to more easily merchandise their properties.

XCom Global, Inc., which provides wireless Internet access rental services for international travelers, announced that it has expanded its coverage to a total of 195 countries.

Amadeus has introduced the Amadeus Hotel Optimization Package, which large travel agencies and travel management companies (TMCs) can use to more efficiently access to all relevant hotel content and save time for their travel counselors.
