Kissimmee

Within the framework of IPW 2023 in San Antonio, Texas, Caribbean News Digital sat down with Ludvin Millward, director of Public Relations for the city of Kissimmee in Florida.

Where is Kissimmee located?

Kissimmee is located south of Orlando, so it’s twenty minutes from the Orlando International Airport. It takes ten minutes from there to the major theme parks, like Universal Studios, Disney and Magic Kingdom, so they are all right next to Kissimmee.

What is the main attraction the city has to offer?

Everyone is familiar with the Theme Parks -Disney, Universal, Seaworld. We also have the Everglades Headwaters, so if you like nature that’s a good place to go kayaking, airboard riding and more. We are also a place with many vacation homes, so coming with family and big groups is a good option. You are closer to the parks and you have resort facilities.

Who are the main visitors flocking to Kissimmee?

Our main markets are Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Canada and the United Kingdom.

What are the advantages of staying in Kissiminee rather than in Orlando or other places?

So, as I mentioned before, we are the place with many vacation homes, so if you want to stay in a home with your own kitchen, usually that is a good option for you. If you are coming with a big group, you can stay in a bigger home; everybody gets their own room and bathroom, you can cook at home or order Uber Eats to the house. It’s like you’re living in your own home while on vacation. Sometimes, these have resort facilities like shuttles from your vacation home to the theme parks, to the malls. They will offer cleaning services, too. It’s like staying in a hotel, but it’s a house.

Is staying in Kissimmee more expensive than staying in Orlando?

No, but I would say it’s comfortable. In Orlando, there are more hotels and we have more vacation homes. It’s really up to preference.
