Potential Tropical Storm Sara Brewing in Caribbean
A weather disturbance over the central Caribbean Sea shows a strong potential to evolve into a tropical depression within days, with forecasts hinting at its development into Tropical Storm Sara. This activity is occurring just weeks before the Atlantic hurricane season’s official end.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) reports a broad low-pressure area is fueling widespread showers and thunderstorms. Meteorologist Britta Merwin from FOX Weather noted an increase in storm activity, saying, "There’s been a noticeable uptick in thunderstorms over the past 24 hours."
Current projections indicate favorable conditions for tropical development, likely forming a tropical depression as the system moves westward across the Caribbean in the coming days. The disturbance may intensify further by the weekend as it begins a northward shift early next week, potentially bringing impacts to Florida and surrounding areas.
With travel plans potentially affected, FOX Weather’s Michael Estime advised those in Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, Cuba, and southern Florida to stay vigilant.
