A recent survey from the U.S. Travel Association and Ipsos reveals that 4 out of 5 American travelers favor the use of biometric technology at airport security. Travelers see this innovation as essential for improving security and reducing wait times, aligning with the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) goals.

The survey found that 79% of air travelers, including 78% of Americans across political lines, back biometric screening. Most travelers value its potential to enhance security, with 95% agreeing on the importance of identity verification. Efficiency is also key, as nine in ten travelers would support biometrics if it sped up security checks.

Supporters primarily highlight biometrics' role in preventing terrorism and human trafficking, with 71% endorsing its use for safety over convenience. More than half of Americans would also back biometric use, provided safeguards like data deletion and privacy protection are in place.

U.S. Travel President Geoff Freeman emphasized the need for Congress to fund this technology, especially ahead of major international events in the U.S. A full report from the Commission on Seamless and Secure Travel is expected this fall.
