The Canadian government has issued a travel advisory for citizens planning to visit the United States in response to new entry and exit regulations set to take effect on April 11.

While the advisory does not discourage travel—since the U.S. remains classified as a destination requiring "normal security precautions"—it informs Canadian travelers about the new immigration requirements. Starting on the mentioned date, Canadians staying in the U.S. for more than 30 days will be required to register with the U.S. government. Failure to comply with this rule could result in fines, penalties, and potential minor criminal records, according to the official advisory.

This update follows similar warnings issued last week by the United Kingdom and Germany, which also advised their citizens about new border regulations and possible encounters with U.S. authorities at international crossings.

The changes stem from a recent executive order enforcing an existing law that requires foreign visitors to register if their stay exceeds 30 days. Although the rule has been in place for some time, it had not been strictly enforced until now.

Concerns among several governments have also intensified following the recent detention of three European tourists at the U.S.-Mexico border, as well as the arrest of a British tourist attempting to enter Washington from Canada. These incidents have raised concerns about the implementation of the new regulations and their impact on international travelers.
