The global tourism industry is set to make history in 2024 with a staggering $11 trillion economic injection, marking a prosperous era for travel and hospitality worldwide.

This surge is fueled by significant advancements in travel and hotel infrastructure across continents, with Asia's giants, India and China, leading the charge. Saudi Arabia's milestone of welcoming over 100 million tourists in 2023 further amplifies this global tourism boom.

Julia Simpson, WTTC President & CEO, emphasized the sector's resilience amidst uncertainties, urging U.S. and Chinese support for their national tourism sectors.

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) predicts a record-breaking year, contributing $11.1 trillion to the global economy. This leap signifies an additional $770 billion over the previous record, supporting one in every ten dollars worldwide.

The resurgence of the tourism sector surpasses pre-pandemic levels, with nearly 348 million jobs globally. International visitor spending nears 2019 levels at $1.89 trillion, while domestic tourism is set to reach $5.4 trillion.

Despite economic challenges, the sector demonstrated resilience in 2023, matching pre-pandemic peaks. Challenges remain, notably in the U.S. and China, where international visitor spending lags.

Looking ahead, WTTC forecasts continued growth, with the sector expected to contribute $16 trillion by 2034, employing 449 million people worldwide.

In parallel, IATA reports a significant upswing in the aviation industry, with demand and capacity surging across international and domestic sectors, signaling robust recovery and growth trends.
