From November 30 to December 3, a group of travel agents from Iceland’s leading tour operator, Vita, visited Gran Canaria on a fam trip organized in collaboration with Turismo de Gran Canaria. This initiative, involving six travel professionals, aimed to showcase the island's diverse landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and exquisite gastronomy to better equip agents to promote Gran Canaria to their clients.

Iceland, known for its affluent economy and high travel spending, represents a growing market for Gran Canaria. The fam trip highlighted the island's ability to meet the expectations of Icelandic travelers, who seek premium experiences. Participants explored Gran Canaria’s unique blend of natural beauty and vibrant culture, discovering why it is an ideal destination for a variety of travel preferences.

The itinerary, designed by Turismo de Gran Canaria and led by Mercedes Trujillo, specialist for Nordic and Baltic markets, emphasized the contrasts between the island’s north and south. The agents explored Las Palmas de Gran Canaria’s bustling city life, walking through historic streets like Triana and Vegueta, and experiencing its vibrant atmosphere during the holiday season. This contrasted with the serene environment of the southern region, where the group was accommodated.

The tour also featured the lesser-known northern areas, where the agents enjoyed green landscapes, local culinary delights, and insights into the island’s traditions. These experiences showcased Gran Canaria’s ability to offer a balance of authenticity and variety, appealing to diverse traveler interests.

This fam trip underscores Gran Canaria’s commitment to high-quality tourism promotion by collaborating with international travel agents. With Vita’s focus on personalized, enriching travel experiences in key markets, this partnership strengthens the island’s reputation as a versatile, year-round destination for Icelandic and European travelers alike.
