Skylift: New York City’s Thrilling New Attraction Takes Visitors to New Heights
Since October last year, New York City unveiled its latest sky-high attraction, Skylift at Top of the Rock, offering visitors a breathtaking, 360-degree view of the city from nearly 900 feet above the ground.
Perched atop the iconic 30 Rockefeller Plaza, Skylift is an open-air, circular platform that gently ascends an additional 30 feet above the Top of the Rock’s 70th-floor observation deck. As it rises, the platform rotates slowly, providing an unobstructed view of Manhattan’s skyline. The experience lasts approximately 3.5 minutes, giving visitors a chance to take in landmarks like the Empire State Building, Central Park, and the Hudson River from a brand-new perspective.
Designed to seamlessly blend with Rockefeller Center’s Art Deco architecture, Skylift features marble-like tiers and over 90 LED pixel flutes that illuminate at night, transforming the structure into a striking visual centerpiece of the city’s skyline.
Tickets for Skylift are available as a $35 add-on to the standard Top of the Rock admission and are included in VIP and VIP Rock Passes. The attraction operates daily from 8 a.m. to midnight, with the last entry at 11:10 p.m.
EB Kelly, Senior Managing Director at Tishman Speyer and Head of Rockefeller Center, described the attraction as a game-changer for visitors seeking a new way to experience the city. “The thrilling experience of revolving 900 feet above ground, eye to eye with skyscrapers in the beating heart of New York City, is one no visitor will forget,” Kelly said.
Skylift is part of a broader effort to revitalize Rockefeller Center, which in recent years has introduced new experiences such as The Beam, an interactive photo attraction inspired by the famous 1932 photo of ironworkers lunching on a steel beam.
With its dizzying heights and panoramic views, Skylift promises to be one of New York City’s must-visit attractions, offering both tourists and locals a unique, sky-high adventure.
