United Airlines Unveils Largest International Expansion in History
United Airlines has announced its largest international expansion, adding eight new destinations starting in May 2025. New routes from Newark/New York will include Nuuk, Greenland; Palermo, Italy; Bilbao, Spain; Madeira Island and Faro, Portugal. From Washington D.C./Dulles, United will launch its first flight to Dakar, Senegal, along with new seasonal flights to Nice, France, and Venice, Italy.
With more than 760 weekly transatlantic flights next summer, United is further expanding its already extensive network, adding new and earlier routes to popular destinations like Venice, Athens, and Barcelona. The airline will also boost direct flights between Newark/New York and Palma de Mallorca, Dubrovnik, and Athens, responding to increasing travel demand.
United is also expanding its transpacific offerings with new direct flights from Tokyo/Narita to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and Kaohsiung, Taiwan, as well as a new nonstop route to Koror, Palau. These destinations mark new milestones, as no other U.S. airline offers direct service to these cities.
Beyond these new locations, the expansion will open up unique experiences for travelers, from Greenland's Arctic adventures to exploring Sicily’s rich culture. United's extensive global reach continues to make it the largest U.S. airline flying to international destinations.
This growth coincides with United’s award-winning Good Leads The Way campaign, which highlights the airline’s global network and commitment to providing travelers with unparalleled options and flexibility.
All flights are subject to government approval, and tickets will be available on United's website and app.
