Cuba, Spain Beef Up Trade Deals at FIHAV

The EXPOCUBA Fairgrounds observed the National Day of Spain within the framework of the 35th International Havana Fair in an effort to explore new scenarios for the Cuba-Spain bilateral relations. As a matter of fact, the European country features the largest turnout with 75 participating companies.

The event was attended by Cuba’s deputy minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Ileana Nuñez Mordoche, and Spanish secretary of Commerce, Maria Luisa Poncela Garcia.

Mrs. Poncela Garcia said Spain is the nation with the biggest number of joint ventures established in Cuba and the island nation’s third trade partner, with as many as $1.3 billion worth of revenues, only trailing behind China and Venezuela.

The observance came to a close with the signing of a commercial agreement between the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade and ProCuba, an entity tasked with encouraging foreign-capital projects.
