Brazil has unveiled plans to develop a network of eco-lodges in the Amazon rainforest, aimed at attracting eco-conscious travelers while preserving biodiversity. The initiative is part of a joint program between the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Environment.

The eco-lodges will be built using sustainable materials and renewable energy sources, ensuring minimal environmental impact. Local communities will be actively involved in the management of the facilities, creating employment opportunities and promoting cultural exchange.

Brazilian officials say the project seeks to position the Amazon as a global leader in eco-tourism, offering immersive experiences such as guided jungle treks, river expeditions, and indigenous cultural workshops.

Funding will come from both public and private investors, with international NGOs providing technical support for conservation efforts. The program is also expected to benefit scientific research and wildlife protection initiatives.

Tour operators already see strong demand for authentic, nature-based travel in the Amazon, especially from European and North American markets.

This initiative aligns with Brazil’s broader strategy to diversify its tourism sector and reinforce its image as the guardian of the planet’s largest rainforest.
