CHA calls for further collaboration among Caribbean governments
"In the light of the current troubled times, we´re more committed than ever before to join hands with the private sector," said Berthia Parle, first deputy president of the Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA) and chairwoman of the organization´s Defense Committee.
"We call upon Caribbean governments to single out their backup plans and implement them. For instance, if a hotel offers lower fares to grounded guests, then the government ought to shrug off taxes levied on those rooms," she added.
"In the same breath, if airlines make concessions as far as cancellations and special fares are concerned, then governments should support those carriers to slash costs, at least during the length of this crisis, so that the Caribbean could continue to be a viable destinations for airlines," Mrs. Parle concluded.
